What could it be??? Anyone....
You are right, it's mayonnaise and yes I made it. The color is a bit richer- I am guessing that is due to the farm fresh nature of the eggs, and let me tell you it is delicious!!!! Oh man, another thing I don't think I will be purchasing at the store anymore.
Here is a quick recount of what went into it :)

Along with the serenity I am enjoying my latest accomplishment in the quest for a simpler, more homemade life: my own ricotta cheese drizzled with honey. Yep, I took my first venture into cheese making and thought that ricotta Claudiahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02758893314438976845noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4277874566160932527.post-86605757493889695482011-05-13T11:22:00.000-07:002011-05-13T11:22:42.771-07:00Adventures aheadHere we are in the middle of May, still waiting on the weather to turn friendly and that sense of summer to come along.
In the middle of it all something interesting occurred this last week. I was updating my Facebook status to the following: "Our life will look vastly different come September-exciting!!!"
Most of the responses to this comment were directed at the fact that we are expecting our Claudiahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02758893314438976845noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4277874566160932527.post-69308924446276710372011-04-06T12:34:00.000-07:002011-04-06T13:53:25.577-07:00Heart desiresWe have had the desire to move to a homestead, and we are working on fulfilling that dream in every way that we can.
As our home is listed for sale we have been waiting on moving forward with some of the smaller things that make a homestead what it is.
Well a couple of weeks ago we had a change of heart. Waiting just did not seem like fun anymore.
It all started when I connected with a lady who Claudiahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02758893314438976845noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4277874566160932527.post-21977713385941291882011-03-22T19:40:00.000-07:002011-03-22T19:40:39.479-07:00Early pregnancy and all that it intalesHere I am in the middle of march and look where my keyboard has led me?? You guessed right :)- back to the blog, I know- finally!!
The last couple of months have been exciting and exhausting.
On December 30th 2010, we returned from a wonderful day of skiing at Snoqualmie Pass to get the news we had been waiting for- baby Matthews #3 is on its way!!!!! Excited does not even begin to scratch the Claudiahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02758893314438976845noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4277874566160932527.post-11984617886522157422011-01-02T20:28:00.000-08:002012-03-28T14:17:31.004-07:00Making your own laundry soap
Something that I have started enjoying immensely is caring for my family and cutting costs by making products where I can from scratch. My family has very sensitive skin and most commercial laundry detergent caused itchy skin and breakouts, in addition I am washing clothes for little ones which again calls for "clean" detergent. I was searching high and low as many soaps for sensitive skinClaudiahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02758893314438976845noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4277874566160932527.post-30028447267999558982011-01-02T19:59:00.000-08:002011-01-02T19:59:22.842-08:00Welcome 2011!!!!!!Here is to another year, another opportunity and so many more memories!
What a year 2010 has been to us. Many things have changed yet stayed the same and many dreams have been placed in my heart. I believe that these passions and desires will only grow in the coming year and I am excited to see what will evolve out of my hearts desires.
2010 will go down in my books as a year of hidden Claudiahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02758893314438976845noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4277874566160932527.post-47682502507651480982010-11-16T21:45:00.000-08:002010-11-16T21:45:09.762-08:00Bananas, bananas, bananas!!!!!!!!!Today I came home with a wonderful find- 30lbs of bananas!!!! Yep 30lbs, which come to find out is only half a box :) and I only paid $1.50 for all of them. Quickly do the math and that is only half a penny per pound. I am super excited and hard at work already. These are blemished, bruised and pretty ripe bananas, but those are perfect for my intentions.
I have started with my first batch of Claudiahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02758893314438976845noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4277874566160932527.post-91357025116484922712010-11-08T21:36:00.000-08:002010-11-08T21:36:48.453-08:00Cloth everywhere!!!!Since we made the switch to cloth diapers we have encountered an interesting annoyance -wipes. What to do with the disposable wipes now that there is no diaper to wrap them in?? Well, the answer is cloth wipes:)
We had already been using cloth wipes intermittently, but not on a regular basis before switching to cloth diapers.
Everything was readily available -as we already had a massive amount ofClaudiahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02758893314438976845noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4277874566160932527.post-42560817693839063372010-11-08T21:35:00.000-08:002010-11-08T21:35:20.507-08:00Washing cloth diapersHere is a quick look at how I wash my cloth diapers.
We keep our dirty diapers in a dry pail -a medium sized garbage can lined with a washable pail liner that is waterproof. The wet diapers just go straight in there, the soiled ones get rinsed off and then get placed in the pail.
Every evening -or every other:) I just take the liner with the diapers and place it in the washer. I do take theClaudiahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02758893314438976845noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4277874566160932527.post-90578781756864531592010-11-08T19:57:00.000-08:002010-11-08T19:57:22.560-08:00Cloth DiaperingWe have done it-we switched 100% to cloth diapers!!!!
The question that comes to mind is most likely why- we are on kiddo # 2 and he is 16 months old, so why now???
Well, the answer really has nothing to do with being more green, saving money or reducing trash, but rather with the convenience of cloth diapering. Huh-convenient?? Yes, I find cloth diapering very convenient, along with the fact Claudiahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02758893314438976845noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4277874566160932527.post-1305997983531729602010-10-25T21:36:00.000-07:002010-10-25T21:36:02.716-07:00Such profound truth...Zander and I were having a conversation the other day about being scared to try new things and here is what my little guy told me in his 4 year old wisdom :"Mom, I should not have to be scared to do things right, since God is always with me!" All I could do was give him a smile along with a big hug and a THOSE words :" you are absolutely right bug". Thank you Lord for giving my son a tender heartClaudiahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02758893314438976845noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4277874566160932527.post-49133679524095536762010-10-25T21:31:00.000-07:002010-10-25T21:31:41.969-07:004 years ago....I remember that day as if it was yesterday, and I have to give in to the cliche that you just never forget the day your child was born. It was the first day of the great unknown, nothing can prepare you for what lies ahead; birthing classes, parenting classes-none of it measures up. The moment they laid my son into my arms was the scariest yet most exciting day of my life. Now fast forward 4 Claudiahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02758893314438976845noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4277874566160932527.post-32609480143325698102010-10-21T23:37:00.000-07:002010-10-21T23:44:11.494-07:00Switching gearsI wanted to update this blog with some news relevant to this blog-wow that is a bit redundant:)
I have decided to switch gears a bit as to what I want this blog to be and to become. First change I have changed the name of this blog to "Our life homemade", please update this if you are following me. New spot on the web is http://www.ourlifehomemade.blogspot.com/ I have found that I am Claudiahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02758893314438976845noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4277874566160932527.post-63992680183898582732010-04-20T00:13:00.000-07:002010-04-20T00:13:21.983-07:00Tulips tulips tulips tulipsI could not leave out a quick post about the weekend before last. Eric and I celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary and I finally got to go to the tulip festical up in Mount Vernon. It only took us 7 years to finally make it up there-jeesh:)
We had the whole weekend to bask in the sun, take in the georgous scenery of farming land and enjoy our family away from home. We had a wonderful time and Claudiahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02758893314438976845noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4277874566160932527.post-51345460735563555332010-04-19T23:41:00.000-07:002010-04-19T23:41:27.263-07:00Frogs, buses and balloonsOh so much to write about but so little time. Being a mom of two busy little guys has taught me how precious time really is. But after a very lengthy absence here I am again. First of all to report that taxes are all filed and done-phew what a relief :)
We have been staying busy as a family as well. Spring has arrived and being outside is one of Zanders top priorities along with his newest Claudiahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02758893314438976845noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4277874566160932527.post-2747879200622459302010-03-11T16:17:00.000-08:002010-03-11T16:17:52.233-08:00Baby!!!!Wow it has been a very long time since I have updated this blog- oops- but I am here now with many news to report. First the most important news of all, our nephew Makai Andrew Marinig was born on March 8th 2010. He is one healthy long guy- measuring 21.25 inches. We are excited for Mark and Sarah and can't wait to see him this upcoming weekend. In the meantime our family has completed a 14 day Claudiahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02758893314438976845noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4277874566160932527.post-5450050344011703782010-02-08T06:56:00.000-08:002010-02-08T06:56:31.370-08:00UpdateSo here I am again after a long absence from this wonderful blog with an update on some of those "Resolutions" I have set for 2010.
Let's start from the top, expecting the supernatural from the Lord- oh yes we are, every day and even more so now that we have put our "house for sale" sign out, and wouldn't you know it selling our house is on the list as well :)
Trying to grow my hair out is in Claudiahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02758893314438976845noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4277874566160932527.post-24384339289087145772010-01-28T11:03:00.000-08:002010-01-28T11:03:30.780-08:00God is goodLast night I was invited to a prophetic card party. I had no idea what to expect, only for the Lord to show up and he did in a big way. We were a group of about 16 women and each one of us was given some words for 2010. How amazing to sit and ponder the fact that God knows us, knows our thoughts, our stuggles and dreams. We were all encouraged and blessed beyond comprehension by a faithful fatherClaudiahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02758893314438976845noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4277874566160932527.post-80809041151209421262010-01-22T14:20:00.000-08:002010-01-22T14:20:45.999-08:00Receiving Gifts
Gifts are such wonderful things but my heart was touched this last week after I watched Zander receive a gift from his daddy. Eric returned from working in Idaho and he bought Zander a "Peterbuilt" truck. Oh how Zander has been wanting this particular truck, and on Wednesday morning there it was. His joy and excitement were so pure and so wonderful to watch and then I wondered is that Claudiahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02758893314438976845noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4277874566160932527.post-66361036031203015402010-01-16T12:32:00.000-08:002010-01-16T12:32:30.412-08:00Random thoughts on staying homeNot much has been happening this week. Ethan has had his 6 month baby well appointment and while waiting on the doctor it dawned on me how little we have been sitting in that room over the past 2 years. I remember the time when visiting the doctor seemed to be a monthly (if not more often) occurence- aaah the effects of daycare. So as I sat there waiting watching Zander and Ethan an Claudiahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02758893314438976845noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4277874566160932527.post-55560178272289347412010-01-10T20:49:00.000-08:002010-01-10T20:49:48.076-08:00A week of firstsOh what a week it has been. Our precious Ethan turned 6 months old this past Thursday and with this milestone came a whole bunch of firsts. First bites of solid (well soupy) food, first time at the big pool at the YMCA and first time at the church nursery. Phew!!!
Well the food has been a big hit, Ethan loves his pureed banana and I think he would just keep eating if it would not run out :) My Claudiahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02758893314438976845noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4277874566160932527.post-25321160123391433042010-01-07T15:13:00.000-08:002010-01-07T15:13:48.440-08:00Zumba
I am in love-with a fitness program. Yes I have joined the thousands of fitness fanatics on their newest craze- Zumba!
This is such a great and most importantly fun excercise. The first time I went I had a good time but by the end of the 1 hour session I truly questioned if I had really gotten a good workout. The next morning answered that question for me with almost an entire body of Claudiahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02758893314438976845noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4277874566160932527.post-66292158199776832412010-01-02T19:47:00.000-08:002010-01-02T20:54:27.558-08:00Resolutions is it????
2010 is here!!! And I have a lot of dreams and hopes for this upcoming year. I have decided to pick at least 12 resolutions- I prefer to call them dreams, hopes, goals and so on- and so far I have ended up with I believe 14. They are listed to the right - I am sure you have noticed :) and if more come to mind I will gladly add them to my list. I think I will keep my nifty list, yes I love lists,Claudiahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02758893314438976845noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4277874566160932527.post-16495866249375421382009-12-31T15:19:00.000-08:002009-12-31T15:19:42.303-08:00It's a wrapSo this is it. Today is the last day of 2009 and what a year it has been. The most impactful memory of course was the birth of our second son, Ethan Josiah on 07/07 (9 days late). We had our little guy at home, yet still many things did not go according to plan, for one our wonderful midwife did not quite get here in time. Luckily he made his debut before my mom had to fly home again, so Claudiahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02758893314438976845noreply@blogger.com0
